Grant Ferrier
is Founder and President of Environmental Business International, Inc., a
publishing, research and consulting company serving the Climate Change and
Environmental Industries. In 1988 Grant launched Environmental Business
Journal, the journal of record for the environmental industry and its leading
source of market intelligence. EBI’s segmentation and quantification of the
environmental industry has been adopted by many government and private sources,
and Grant co-authored the U.S. government’s definitive assessment of the U.S.
environmental industry, published by the U.S. Dept. of Commerce’s Office of
Technology Policy. Grant has represented the interests of the environmental
industry in government and business forums, testifying before three
Congressional Subcommittees and serving on advisory committees for the OECD,
the U.S. EPA and the U.S. Dept. of Commerce. He has offered expert opinion at
international meetings sponsored by the United Nations Department of Policy
Coordination and Sustainable Development (DPCSD) and the United Nations
Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). He has also served on the board
of directors of three corporations. In addition to founding and serving as
editor of Environmental Business Journal for 20 years, he also founded and
served as editor of Nutrition Business Journal from 1996-2007. Prior to
entering the research and publishing business, he worked in the private sector
in energy efficiency, solar energy and wind energy from 1978-1984. Grant has a
degree in Mechanical Engineering and Conservation & Resource Studies from
the University of California, Berkeley.
George Stubbs

George Stubbs
has been a business journalist for more than 25 years, first in the electronics
industry and since 1990 in the Environmental and Hazardous Waste industries.
George joined Environmental Business International in 2001 and now serves as a
Senior Editor of Climate Change Business Journal, following several years as
Senior Editor of Environmental Business Journal. Prior to joining EBI, George
spent 10 years as Editor of Golob's Environmental Business Report (formerly
Hazardous Materials Intelligence Report). George was also Managing Editor of
the Massachusetts Environmental Ventures newsletter, produced in cooperation
with the Environmental Business and Technology Center at the University of
Massachusetts, Boston. In addition, he wrote quarterly environmental
newsletters for companies including Zurich American and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
George has a B.A. degree in Philosophy from Lawrence University and an M.A. in Philosophy
from Washington University.
Jim Hight

Jim Hight has
served as a Contributing Editor for both Environmental Business Journal and
Nutrition Business Journal and as a Research Analyst for Environmental Business
International since 1999. He has written extensively about finance, marketing
and regulatory affairs in the environmental and nutrition industries. Jim has
consulted since 1983 for a wide range of private companies, public agencies and
nonprofit organizations. His freelance writing career began in 1976, and his
credits include: the Boston Globe, Technology Review, Sacramento Bee, Boston
Business Journal, Health Products Business and more than 30 other trade and
consumer publications, as well as market research reports. Highlights of Jim’s
employment history include serving as Creative Director of the Boston marketing
firm Robert Hohler Associates, in which capacity he crafted successful
marketing programs for Oxfam America, Massachusetts Health Data Consortium, the
Boston Chamber of Commerce and other clients; as communications manager for
Boston's industrial development agency, Economic Development and Industrial
Corp.; and founding and managing United Youth, a citywide youth media-training
program in Boston.
Brian Runkel

Brian A.
Runkel is a founding board member (along with Grant Ferrier) and Executive
Director of the California Environmental Business Council, Inc. (CEBC). Brian
served as Deputy Secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency
(Cal/EPA) from 1991-1993, where he helped create the new agency, while being
responsible for regulatory coordination between the Agency’s boards and
departments. He also established the California Environmental Technology
Partnership, a private-public partnership to assist and promote the $30-billion
California environmental industry. Prior to his tenure at Cal/EPA, he was Chief
of Staff in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Enforcement
from December 1989 to March 1991. USEPA enforcement was at record levels during
his tenure under Administrator William K. Reilly. In addition to managing CEBC,
Brian runs his own environmental & energy management/consulting firm, Runkel
Enterprises, that increasingly specializes in business strategy relating to
climate change. Brian is a graduate of Harvard Law School and George Washington
University.
Lynette Thwaites

Lynette
Thwaites has worked in business publishing as an editor, researcher and writer
for more than 20 years. She was one of the co-founders of Environmental
Business International, and for several years served as Managing Editor of its
flagship publication, Environmental Business Journal. In 1996 she helped to
launch EBI sister publication Nutrition Business Journal. Her responsibilities
as Managing Editor of Climate Change Business Journal include copy planning,
editing, research, writing and production. Prior to joining EBI, Lynette worked
on a variety of arts and business publications, including a periodical funded
by the California Arts Council, and as an editor for Impact Assessment Inc. She
has a BA in literature from the University of Warwick, England, and an MA in
Art History from the Courtauld Institute, London University.
Katja Rauhala

Katja Rauhala
is a Senior Project Manager for EBI and a Research Manager for Climate Change
Business Journal. She is responsible for company research, industry surveys,
literature review, and government document research, as well as cataloging and
coordinating EBI research databases. Katja is also responsible for producing EBI
market research reports and web seminars. She has worked with both government
and private sector clients and currently serves as Senior Researcher for EBI on
a major project to define and quantify the California Climate Change Industry
for the California Air Resources Board. Prior to joining EBI Katja worked as a
financial analyst for an investment firm and as a financial advisor and
economic analyst for American Express. Katja received a B.A. and an M.B.A. from
the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration, Finland, focusing
on statistics, mathematics and economic data models.

Fiona O’Donnell-Lawson
is a Research Manager for EBI and a member of the Climate Change Business
Journal team. Fiona manages EBI’s annual revenue survey process of more than
1,500 environmental companies in the United States, involving 26 databases and
a universe of more than 140,000 companies and revenue-generating entities. She
is also responsible for analytical models for quantifying eight market segments
of the U.S. environmental industry. Fiona has conducted research on the air
pollution control equipment, remediation, information technology and consulting
& engineering segments and has been a principal contributor to EBI’s
detailed market research reports in each of these environmental business
segments. She is also responsible for EBI’s regional and state market
quantification efforts, including EBI’s annual environmental industry revenue,
export, and employment analysis. She has also managed proprietary research
assignments for private and public sector clients. Fiona has a B.S. in Business
Administration from the University of Vermont.

Based in
Washington, D.C., Andrew Paterson has worked for 20 years with state and
federal agencies, investor groups and engineering firms in the energy and power
sectors and other technology arenas. His projects and responsibilities have
included the following: Lead Market Analyst on the U.S. DOE project,
"Business Case for Nuclear Power"; Investment Analysis Leader for DOE
Bioenergy Programs; Team Leader for an implementation planning review for DOE
National Energy Policy; Principal Investigator for the U.S. DOE’s "Readiness
Review for the EM Industrial Base"; Conference Moderator for the Clean
Coal Finance Forum in Brazil (1999-2000); and a member of the Management
Committee of the Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council (1996-98).
Andrew has also served as a consultant, energy editor and political commentator
for Environmental Business International Inc. since its founding in 1988.
Walter S. Howes

Walter Howes
has 25 years of experience related to Energy, Environmental and Sustainability
markets, both in the private and public sectors. He has more than 18 years of
experience in investment and commercial banking, venture capital and
international privatization activities, including serving as a Vice President
of the First Boston Corporation, a Vice President of Citicorp, President of the
EBI Capital Group, and Advisor to the Ministry of Industry & Finance for
the Czech Republic. Walter has held numerous advisory positions with public
institutions such as EPA, DOC and DOE. Serving at DOE he has been the Director
of the Office of Acquisition Reform and Privatization, Acting Director of DOE's
Loan Guarantee Program and Senior Advisor for Acquisition Policy. Walter is a
graduate of Duke University (Chemistry and Economics) and has an MBA in
International Finance from New York University's Graduate School of Business.
